Website Settings

Website Settings control the technical infrastructure behind your site — how visitors reach it, how search engines treat it, how cookies and privacy are handled, and how analytics data flows back to you. Think of it as the control panel for everything that happens behind the scenes.

Command Central for Your Website

Take control of your site's technical infrastructure. The Settings panel gives you direct access to manage custom domains, configure search engine visibility, and handle privacy controls like cookies and tracking—all from one unified dashboard.

Domains

The Domains tab controls where your website lives on the internet — the exact addresses visitors type into their browsers to find you. Every Giant Context project automatically receives a generated domain (like your-app-slug.giantcontext.com), but you can also connect your own custom domains here. It is highly recommended to set up your custom domain early, as switching domains after your site is live can temporarily impact your search engine rankings.

Connect Your Custom Domain

Every project starts with a generated Giant Context domain so you can start building immediately. When you're ready to launch, connect your custom domain to establish your brand. We recommend setting this up early—switching domains after your site is live can temporarily impact your search engine rankings.

Default Domain

Every project in Giant Context automatically receives a generated domain—typically formatted as your-app-slug.giantcontext.com. This default address is instantly active and serves as your site's permanent home on the web, ensuring your project remains accessible even before you configure a custom domain.

Custom domains

Every project in Giant Context receives an automatically generated domain (like your-app-slug.giantcontext.com). While this works instantly for testing and development, custom domains allow you to connect your own branded web address (like yourcompany.com). We highly recommend configuring your custom domain early in the process. Switching domains after your site goes live can temporarily disrupt your search engine rankings.

Design

The Design tab is where you assign a visual identity to your website. Brandings are managed at the project level and contain your core design tokens—colors, typography, and logos. Selecting a branding configuration here instantly applies those styles across your entire website, ensuring a consistent experience for your visitors. If the dropdown is empty, you'll need to set up a branding profile in your project settings first.

Align Your Site with Your Brand

The Design tab connects your website to your project's central branding. Simply select your branding configuration from the dropdown to instantly apply your custom colors, typography, and logos across your entire site.

Authentication

Authentication settings will let you control who can access your website, making it easy to build member-only communities, private intranets, or gated content experiences. Note: This feature is coming soon and is not yet available.

Cookies

The Cookies tab serves as your privacy compliance center. Here, you control the consent banner and manage how visitor consent is handled—essential for meeting GDPR and CCPA requirements. While cookies required for basic functionality are always active to ensure your site works properly, you can configure how statistics cookies and other tracking methods are presented to your visitors.

Configure Your Cookie Banner

Control how your site handles visitor privacy. Use the Cookies tab to enable a customizable cookie banner, define your policy links, and manage cookie categories—including essential and statistics cookies—to ensure compliance and build trust.

Cookie consent banner

To manage how your site handles visitor privacy and consent, navigate to the Cookies tab. Here, you can activate the Enable Cookie Banner toggle to display a compliance notice to your visitors. Once enabled, you can personalize the messaging to fit your brand by customizing the Banner Title and Banner Description. This ensures your audience understands what data is being collected—like statistics cookies used for analytics—while keeping the experience seamless and professional.

Policy links

Ensure compliance with privacy regulations by linking your cookie consent banner directly to your site's policy documents. Use the dropdown menus in the Cookies settings to select your dedicated privacy policy and cookie policy from your existing Website Pages.

Cookie Categories

Region settings

Enable the Auto-detect Region toggle to intelligently display your cookie banner only when required by local privacy laws. Instead of interrupting every visitor, this setting ensures compliance by targeting users in regulated areas like the European Union, the United Kingdom, and California, while providing a frictionless browsing experience for everyone else.

Tracking

Details

The Details tab provides a read-only snapshot of your website's core technical identifiers. Here, you'll find your site's unique ID, slug, and exact timestamps for when it was created and last updated. While you can't edit this information, it's essential for troubleshooting or building custom integrations with the Giant Context API. Simply click the copy button next to any field to grab the exact value you need.

Delete Website

Safe Deletion Process

The Danger Zone tab allows you to safely delete your website. This action moves the site and all its associated pages into the project trash, protecting you from accidental permanent data loss.

Tips and Best Practices

Set up your custom domain early. Switching domains after your site is live can temporarily affect search engine rankings.

Always enable the cookie banner if you serve EU visitors. GDPR fines are real and significant.

Link your policy pages before going live. A cookie banner without a privacy policy page looks incomplete.

Leave robots.txt alone unless you have a reason to change it. The defaults are designed for maximum visibility.

Pick a branding before building pages so you see your real colors and typography as you design.
